Eliza Jennings Chief Human Resources Officer and General Counsel Griveas Receives 2017 First Chair Top General Counsel Award

(Cleveland, Ohio) – Eliza Jennings, a nationally recognized expert in
aging services, announced that Chief Human Resources Officer and
General Counsel Jennifer M. Griveas is a recipient of the 2017 First
Chair Top General Counsel Award. Griveas previously received this
honor in 2015, and received the First Chair Rising Star Award in 2013
and 2014.
The First Chair Awards is an annual selection of in-house counsel who
have, through their hard work and innovation, made significant
contributions to the legal community nationwide. Honorees will be
recognized at the First Chair Awards Conference and Gala August 30 in
Chicago. Recipients will also be featured in First Chair Magazine, an
annual publication for members of the legal community that is distributed nationally to in-house
counsel.
Griveas is an experienced attorney whose background includes litigation and employment
counseling for corporate and nonprofit clients. Prior to joining Eliza Jennings in 2011, Griveas
practiced law at Frantz Ward LLP in the firm’s labor and employment and litigation groups.
Griveas participates in the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Lawyer-to-Lawyer mentoring program, and
mentors law students through Cleveland-Marshall College of Law’s Externship Program. She is
a member of LeadingAge Ohio, the state-wide organization for not-for-profit aging services
providers, and contributes to the group’s advocacy efforts.
Griveas holds a juris doctorate degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and a Bachelor
of Arts Degree in journalism and mass communication from Kent State University, both
conferred cum laude. She is certified in Health Care Compliance by the Health Care
Compliance Certification Board. Griveas is a member of the Ohio State and Cleveland
Metropolitan Bar Associations, as well as the Association of Corporate Counsel. She was a
member of the 2012 class of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Leadership Academy. Griveas is
a member of SHRM, national and Cleveland chapters, the Health Care Compliance Association,
and the Northeast Ohio Employer’s Counsel Roundtable. She is a Cleveland Metropolitan Bar
Association Women in Law Award recipient, and a three-time Crain’s Cleveland Business
General and In-house Counsel Awards finalist. Griveas served as Executive Editor for
Cleveland State Law Review and was the recipient of the Law Review’s 2003-2004 Executive
Editor of the Year Award.
