Eliza Jennings President and CEO Deborah Lewis Hiller 2014 ATHENA Award Finalist
(Cleveland, Ohio) – Eliza Jennings, a nationally recognized and trusted expert in aging services, announced that President and Chief Executive Officer Deborah Lewis Hiller was among 12 Northeast Ohio leaders honored yesterday at the ATHENA Awards dinner at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn.
Named in recognition of the Greek goddess of wisdom and courage, the Northeast Ohio ATHENA Award is presented annually to two individuals – one individual from the Greater Cleveland area and one individual from the Greater Akron area. The award is bestowed upon someone who has attained and embodies the highest level of professional excellence, has devoted time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community, and actively assists women in realizing their leadership potential.
“The ability to mentor others is essential to strong leadership,” said Rick Weigle Jr., Chairman of Eliza Jennings’ Board of Trustees. “Deborah seeks and develops future leaders within the organization, ensuring that Eliza Jennings will remain an innovative leader among aging services providers.”
Hiller’s vision was the driving force behind Eliza Jennings becoming the first aging services provider in the United States to offer SAIDO Learning™, a non-pharmacological treatment that is improving the quality of life for older adults living with dementia. Under her leadership, Eliza Jennings is expanding the breakthrough treatment to aging services organizations across the country. The new SAIDO Learning Institute at Eliza Jennings Health Campus in Cleveland is a national center for operations and training.
ATHENA is an international awards program. Inside Business magazine presented the first Northeast Ohio ATHENA Award in 2003. Hiller will be featured among the honorees in the May/June issue of Inside Business Magazine.
