(Cleveland, Ohio) – Eliza Jennings, a nationally recognized expert in aging services, announced that Basabi R. Ratnaparkhi, Ph.D., LNHA, has been appointed to the board of the Ohio Person-Centered Care Coalition (OPCCC). She will serve a two-year term. Dr. Ratnaparkhi is executive director of skilled nursing and rehabilitation services at Eliza Jennings Health Campus on Cleveland’s West Side. She is a gerontologist, educator and licensed nursing home administrator with nearly 30 years of eldercare and Alzheimer’s/dementia care management experience.

Person-centered care is the transformation of long-term care services that honors and respects the voices of elders and those working with them in an effort to individualize care and de-institutionalize the nursing home environment. Core person-centered values are choice, dignity, respect, self-determination and purposeful living.

The OPCCC is an alliance of organizations, professionals, and consumers whose mission is to support transformational culture change in long-term care environments where all individuals can experience meaning and purpose. The OPCCC works closely with all sectors of long-term care including consumers, providers, families, local and state officials, regulators and surveyors to enhance the way we care for elders through education, outreach, and advocacy.
