Eliza Jennings Recognized for Healthy Worksite Practices

(Cleveland, Ohio) – Eliza Jennings, a nationally recognized expert in aging services, was named a 2017 Healthy Ohio Worksite Bronze Award Winner by the Healthy Business Council of Ohio (HBCO). Eliza Jennings was among 73 Ohio employers honored for healthy workplace practices during the 14th annual Healthy Worksite awards presentation in Columbus, Ohio.

These awards recognize Ohio employers who demonstrate a commitment to employee wellness through comprehensive worksite health promotion and wellness programs. Employers are scored on the extent their wellness programs facilitate and encourage employee health, enhance productivity, and ensure a healthy work environment.

“Most importantly, these programs help employees and their families live healthier and higher quality lives,” said David Cowden, Chair of HBCO. “Wellness programs are effective tools to engage employees in a more productive culture, and help drive down healthcare costs.”

Eliza Jennings was commended for its exemplary efforts to provide programs that encourage physical activity, better nutrition, and the prevention and cessation of smoking.

“We are grateful to our dedicated employees for the excellent work they do to provide the highest quality care to the older adults we serve,” said Richard M. Boyson Jr., Eliza Jennings President and CEO. “Investing in the health and well-being of our team members is at the heart of our mission and culture. We are honored to be recognized by the Healthy Business Council of Ohio.”

The award ceremony was part of the Health Action Council 2018 Columbus Symposium held in January. Three levels of achievement were awarded — Gold, Silver and Bronze. Employers who met basic criteria received a Recognition award. Increasing the number of worksites receiving awards is an objective of HCBO’s five-year initiative to prevent and reduce chronic disease in Ohio.
